Emergency contraceptive method containing Levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone that prevents pregnancy when taken shortly after unprotected intercourse. This medication works by delaying or preventing ovulation or altering the uterine environment to prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus. It should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse and should not exceed 72 hours (3 days) after intercourse.
