Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) is used to prevent blood clots from forming due to a certain irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) or after hip or knee replacement surgery. It is also used to treat blood clots (such as deep vein thrombosis-DVT or pulmonary embolus-PE) and prevent the formation of blood clots.

Clopidogrel belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet medicinal products. By preventing this clumping, antiplatelet medicinal products reduce the chances of blood clots forming (a process called Thrombosis). It is taken by adults to prevent blood clots (thrombi) forming in hardened blood vessels (arteries), a process known as Atherothrombosis, which can lead to atherothrombotic events such as stroke, heart attack, or death.
